There was a large B group last night. I'd guess there were at least 25 of us. There was a decent sized C race and about 15 in A. The season is in full swing! Lot's of fine racing from our satellite A teams (Trevor in Wheelers, Andrew, Kevin, Mike D and Jay in ProCity). The A race looked really exciting. How do I know? DNF! Shoot. On about lap 4 I went for it. Nothing dramatic, just roll of the front on the way up the hill. Take the turn at the bottom at full speed, look back and away I was. Soon Roland R. joined me. Surprise, surprise. Roland is that kind of guy. Something happening? No. OK I'll go. Something happening? Yes. OK, I'm in. Then two more. A four-main break-away! Ya. It was all over by the end of the back straight.
The next two laps were fast. It wasn't only my legs that told me this. There were about five guys running off the front and a strung out group trying to follow. Not what I needed after my heroic effort. I lasted for a lap and a half. Heroic? Not at all - Educational? Yup. Ian, Martin and Ritchie were our remaining representatives. They all hung in there till the end and battled in the sprint. Good going guys. There might have been a top-ten, not sure. Vinko (No Team) seems unbeatable in the sprint. Again, he came from behind like a lightening bolt (I've witnessed this from the race and now from the side-lines) and won by a wheel. Stephane might or might not have cored points. He had a bunch of team mates out to help out - nice to see a herd of Wheelers jerseys in B. StuckyLike were also strong. One of their guys ran off the front for a few laps but was reeled in and paid for his bravery on the final lap - No soup (points) for you!

Alex won the C sprint. The A race really was an exciting one. If you remain reluctant to race (can't imagine why), come out and watch. Really. My evening was far from wasted. The ride to and especially the ride home from Caleb Pike, was a heck of a work out.

Our Speedway race is next week. I am thinking tents and BBQs! More on that later, but please put it on your calendar.
