Saturday, Lets Go Long

Starting this Saturday I'd like to do a progression of distance. 80 K this Saturday, 100 K next, 120 the following with 80 again on the 4th Saturday. My plan is to build up the distance in 4 week blocks, build for 3, active recovery for 1. So the following four Saturdays starting May 24 will be something like 100, 120, 140 then back to 100. Then June 21, 160 (Silly Summer Solstice around Beacon Hill Circle!), 140, 160 than back to 120. By the middle of July I'd like to be doing 150 to 160 K consistently each Saturday till the fall. And let's not forget the Big Loop on July 6!
I'll be leaving at 7:00 AM from Discovery Coffee on Menzies near Michigan and will likely follow the new Ryder route. The pace will likely be C+ in the 27, 28 Km/Hr Average Speed. Nothing too crazy. The idea for me is Long Slow Distance with lots of climbing. As usual, we will do our very, very best to keep the group together. If quicker riders want to, charge up the hills then turn around and come back all the down to pick up the slower riders and ride back up again. Might be a way for you to burn more energy and for everyone to reach the top of the hills together and carry on without having to stop and wait. It would be good if we could keep the flow going!
Hope to see you out there!
