11 Tripleshot youth riders joined up for the first FastTrack session of the year last night. The Tripleshot contingent ride out, picking up kids along the way. Thanks to TS member and dad Jim Pauly for riding out with the group and helping with the pedal swapping. Jim also volunteers with GVVA maintaining the rental bikes. We had the luxury of bikes adjusted, lubed and even tires pumped for the session, from the five hours Jim spent over the weekend.

The FastTrack group ranged from age 7 to 16, groups alternating on the track, and the young ones with their own time slot while the big kids rested and drank water. The one 24" wheel bike that has arrived of 8 en route, was a hit. The two 7 year olds swapped it for every drill. Also 8 more 650 c wheel bikes coming.

The program was an refresher of safety and etiquette, a pace line warmup, two by two riding to get used to traffic and then accelerations. 3-4 one straight accelerations and the. 3-4 one lap accelerations. Might need to be more work; the group ride home was constant attacks, hill prime sprints with victory salutes. :)

Sessions are 4:30-6:00 Monday and Thursday. Tripleshot and school bike league students from oak bay and Fairfield are welcome to join the easy group ride out to the track. We leave at 3:50 sharp from 1058 Davie. We ride via pandora bike lane, pick up kids at the blue bridge and good life fitness, then Tyee and craigflower bike lanes to Juan de fuca rec. takes about 35 minutes ride, but much much faster than driving. Most younger kids get picked up after FastTrack when traffic is lighter.
