Congrats Sammy! One of our newest riders, has been invited to Cycling Canada's Talent ID program, Pedal to the Medal. She was selected through an application process. The testing will be Friday at PISE.

The other youth and adult members played a role in this; it was seeing the youth riders training that caught Sammy's attention. And the Sunday rides encouraged Sammy on her first group rides. It takes a community to make a cyclist.

We'll let you know how it goes. http://www.cyclingcanada.ca/sport/cycli ... -athletes/

Good test for Sammy. Too soon to say what the results mean, but apparently close to former uvic field hockey star Katie Rushton, who's been racing for two years, this year with Russ hays I believe. Sammy has had two TS rides, 3-4 gym workouts and a mtb ride.

Here she is doing the vertical jump test and the 6 sec peak power test. The 3 minute power drop off test is gruelling; not such nice pictures.

That's national sprint coach Erin Hartwell watching. Hartwell has a Victoria connection: he won the world cup 1 km in 1998 when the world cup came to Victoria.
