You might know that Victoria is a happening place for cycling, but it is also a hub of North American fiddle music. If you want a taste of that scene you have to come to this show featuring the duo, Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas who are in Concert on Sunday the 12th.

My daughter's fiddle group "Coastline" is the opening act, led by local fiddle impresario Ivonne Hernandez. To say they're the hottest young fiddle group on the west coast is not an exaggeration. Ok it is, but only a little. But don't believe me: Ask Barton. He's effusive with praise of those fiddlin' children. Caution: don't get him going about fiddle music while riding beside him, because it causes him to gesticulate wildly and the waving of arms may force you to drive into a deer or a bus.
Sun. January 12th 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm doors at 7:00 pm
@ First Church of Christ Scientist (All Ages)
Tickets: $20.00
What one of the reviewers said:
"Traditional music has always been a connective tissue between cultures, communities, and generations. Witness the duo of Scottish fiddle star Fraser and cello prodigy Haas. He is from Clackmannan, a small town in Scotland's smallest county. She is a Juilliard grad from California. When they met, he was teacher, and she was student. And yet on a new CD, "In the Moment," you would think they'd been playing together for centuries. While his fiddle dances, her cello throbs darkly or plucks puckishly. Then she opens her cello's throat, joining Fraser in soaring sustains, windswept refrains, and sudden, jazzy explosions. Their sound is as urbane as a Manhattan midnight, and as wild as a Clackmannan winter."
