where do you recycle old tubes and tires?

Any suggestions on where to recycle/reuse old bike tubes and tires? anyone doing any cool art projects that need them?
The tubes have big slits in them as does the tube so patching is not an option.

I've heard that Fort St. Cycles recycles them though I haven't been in myself.

Bike shops have to take them to a tire shop. We take all ours to Fountain Tire at Government and Herald and they happily recycle them for us.

Or Selkirk Station on the Gorge.

or give them to Lister. I am pretty sure he would be secretely pleased to have tires or tubes that were younger than him or that had less than 65% patch on them...
