Hello there!! My name is Neil and I have yet to come out on a Tripleshot ride.
I ride a single speed and was wondering about the pace of the C Group for the peninsula ride.
I have ridden most of that route except the Island View Road part to the coast and back.
Would it be ok for me to ride out with you??

Hi Neil,
Honestly I think it would be very challenging for you to hang with the group on a single speed for this ride. It does go at a pretty relaxed pace and we do regroup several times, but it may be harder that you expect. We generally ride as one group on Sundays - there are no A, B and C groups for this ride - so the pace does go up on a few occasions.
Having said that, I've been left behind by single-speeders on Tuesday and Wednesday rides in the past, though they have usually been "A" riders. I guess we'll never know until you give it a try...

Heya Neil!
I believe that you talked with me and my mom in the past. With all the rides, the biggest issue with riding a single speed is that the land we live on is significantly less than flat, so while you may be able to do the same average speed as the ride, your issue is that you would be mashing (pedalling slowly) up the hills, and spinning madly down them.
The same happens on the flats. No matter what gear you choose, sometimes you will have too big a gear when the group is moving slowly, and waaay too small of a gear when the group is mashing downhill.
That said, by all means go for it. I've made far less intelligent choices with riding equipment, and it would be an exciting adventure! It may be a better idea to start with one of the shorter weekday rides that runs closer to town.
