Another reason to ride the Giro Sardegna in 2013

Thinking of doing the 2013 Giro Sardegna next April? Here's one more reason to go...apparently Sardinians live longer than almost anyone else:

Surely, soaking up even one week of such a culture has to have a positive effect on one's longevity? Personally I think it's all the prosciutto, cheese, and red wine that they consume. Most of the prizes awarded after each Stage were either prosciutto or cheese. Heck, there was even a "prosciutto tree" appetizer at the dinner buffet one night last April! It disappeared in less than 5 minutes.

Pork, cheese 'n' booze: the Holy Trinity.

But their real secret is unemployment. Work kills. If you ignore the headline and the relatively rare concept of "austerity suicides", this article helpfully notes that in Sardinia "one in two young people are out of work." :)

Probably not the prosciutto - vegetarians live longer than the rest of us (about 2 yrs on average).
