It looks like our lobbying efforts with the city have yielded fruit. The TC article today suggests the plan to close circle drive has been modified to make it one way in the direction we ride. I think this is a huge development for us. Instead of bollards and dog walkers to dodge on mixed use paths, we'll actually have less conflicting traffic to deal with. Thanks to all who spoke up. Please consider thanking council and lead parks planning staffer Doug Demarzo for hearing us. Ddemarzo@victoria.ca. http://www.timescolon

Re: Modified Beacon Closures
If you are thinking of contacting council or staff, consider politely asking for the removal of on street parking on the east side of Douglas on the loop. This would be consistent with the park plan of making the park less about cars and parking and more about walking and cycling. And we know from our experience of drivers u turning in front of us into parking spots there at 7 am, they are parking for work downtown, not park users. The parking lot at the petting zoo is empty then.
