Updated Dates: Rides are now next Thursday May 31 and Friday June 1st.

I am part of Oak Bay's Active Transportation Advisory Committee and we are organizing guided rides for new commuter cyclists during bike to work week. Here is a great opportunity to coach and inspire those hesitant cyclists to start commuting by showing them some of the better routes to downtown and by providing tips and encouragement.

City Planners who work on increasing the number of cyclists have recognized that a majority of commuters could potentially cycle. These are the 'interested but concerned' group seen in the chart below. With a bit of support and guidance, these people can become regular commuters, and maybe even future tripleshotters!

Here are the routes and times. Please post if and when you can volunteer to be a guide.

Thursday May 31:

Departing Carnarvon park near the tennis courts, travel along Haultain and finishing at Centennial Square
Depart: 7:30, 8:00

Friday June 1:

Departing from Oak Bay Recreation Centre on Bee St, travel along Richardson and finishing at the Downtown Public Library
Depart: 7:30, 8:00
