I took full advantage of the weather on Saturday and rode a 300k route: Victoria-Sidney-Prospect Lake-Muns-Malahat-Duncan-Cobble Hill-Shawnigan-Malahat-Humpback-Sooke-Otter Point Rd-Sooke-Gillespie-East Sooke Rd-Lagoon-Victoria-Oak Bay.

I was using a Gamin 500 to track my progress. The battery ran out at 260ks. The profile f the ride can be seen at: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/1687 ... A208.email

Based on the 260ks elevation figures I estimated the total climbing to be 10,800 feet.

First off: Mark, you're crazy. But I take my helmet off...

Secondly: at a glance, your ride compares well to Milano - San Remo:

Nowadays, the peloton finishes in 6.5 to 7 hours. But your rolling time on Saturday likely beats at least one year's winning time of 12 hrs. 24 min. Now, that result may have been from 1910 (when only four riders finished in a snowstorm), but I bet you good cash-money none of them were septuagenarians... :)

Very impressive Mark, I'm always impressed not only by your endurance but also your determination, keeping up with rides 1/2 your age!
