The race has been over for hours. Where is the report? Did Peter win?

Others will have to contribute too, my story is pretty darn boring: First, it was great that so many people came out to show support. Next week you should join us. Scott Martin (Oak Bay Bikes) represented TripleShot in the A group and Bill Peter and I were in the approx. 18-rider B group. Twenty laps for the A's and 15 for the B's.

A typically informal start - OK B's off you go. This was followed quickly by a 3-rider escape. Normally that's not a problem, but Peter sensed trouble and encouraged us to chase. We didn't. Bill and I have a year of racing at Newton Heights behind us. We know what we're doing. After a few laps Bill and I drifted away from the rest of the B's with two others. (note that the results are posted and there's a link on our home page, so you can fill in some details or skip this rambling text altogether right now if you like). A short time later Bill made an attempt to bridge up to the tete de la course from our four-rider chase group. Great I thought. I can sit on the back of these two and pretend I am only doing it to discourage them from chasing Bill. Darn it, Bill decided to come back to us - now I was sitting in because I was weak.

Did I mention the gear? Bill revealed his new wheels - he looked fast standing still, I was on Mike's Berg - thanks Mike - and Peter had the sister car, I mean sister Berg sans ZIPPs. Scott had the new Ridley out for it's first race.

Back to the race. Three of us scored points, Scott DNFed (not sure why - hope it wasn't the bike - I want one of those). Peter, in his debut at Newton Heights, was 9th. Bill was 3rd: While one guy in that first-lap three-rider break away got beaten by the hill repeats, the other two, as Peter predicted, were never seen again and claimed the top two spots. Michael Jordon, who was 2nd, is a student in my BIOL361 class this spring. Michael, if you're reading this, I have a final exam written just for you. I did run at the front of our group of four on one or two occassions. But probably not enough to justify my sprint past the other two guys at the finish. I placed 4th and Brent Stubbs and Aaron Bremner were 5th and 6th. There are a few good images of our group of four, usually with Bill in front, on the web site (see the race results link at TripleShot Cycling).

Over to you Peter, Bill, Scott,

Wasn't the bike. Could have been the $20 seat post, but I doubt that too. Did you see the mountain goats in the A group? Whatever. Triple Shot was the stand out for sure. Good looking out. Thanks to Geoff Pendral for putting it together. Hopefully the A group is a bit bigger next week at Caleb Pike.

Winner of the B group was Derek Tripp - 55 + years old - freak of nature. You need to test his urine - everyone may move up a place. :D
