Icy Wednesday - March 20

Well that probabply counted as the second worst icy ride ever. Once again the combination of wet roads, a clearing sky and southerly wind seemed to conspire to trap us by Mt. Doug. 5 happy farmers left on the regular route (like Gilligan) with no one suspecting what was to come. Turning onto Ash was ok but then BAM 3 down with the road icing up on both sides of us. We decided to backtrack and once again found ourselves surrounding by sketchy conditions. Riding SLOOOWLY down Shelbourne Rob's front wheel went into an icy dip and that was it - the fastest full faceplant I have ever seen. Brief loss of consciousness and then it was ambulance time. He is ok though. 10 stitches and now waiting for a Head CT at the General. Not sure what they are looking for with that particular test ........

I'm back at home. I don't have any memory of crashing, and my memory starts when the ambulances arrived. Apparently I was talking, so if I gave you the pin's for my credit cards, be kind. Thanks for everyones help. I will let you know how this affects my modeling career. See you soon (or when my wife lets me out of the house).

I'd been feeling like a bit of a sissy for skipping this morning's ride. Now I'm feeling pretty darned smart. Rob...if your modelling contracts need a stand-in while your facial wounds heal over, I'm available.

Gee, sounds rough, Rob. Heal fast.
If you're looking for an indoor trainer, I've got lots to say these days...

The hills were ok this morning, at least Cadboro Bay. It was 0 out and the white paint markings were slippery but other than that it was ok. As usual, some of us waited for the farm team to come by. We thought they had all slept in. I bet they wish they had! I hope recovery is quick.

Glad to hear u r doing ok. U had us worried!! U did give your pin #s, but lucky for u we r all over 40 and promptly forgot. But Bryson did appear on the scene, but I can't remember if that was before or after u gave out too much personal info. How is the big egg on your cheek? No fracture on the cheekbone?
Listening to Janice and her worries made me appreciate how chris feels when I go out on potentially dicey mornings. Hope she has recovered!
Take it easy,
Paula
