Reports from Palm Springs

Brenna has been sending reports from the Cycling BC training camp in Palm Springs.

Great weather, nice house, sleeping on air mattresses on the floor, first ever group of junior girls at a Cycling BC camp, all at about the same level, so they're enjoying the group training.

In summary, (wait for it) ....people are performing like their training.

Brenna was hurting the first long ride, after a month of intervals for the track trials, and no long rides.

But won 2 out of 6 sprints the day after. ;)

Not real news, but performances seem conspicuously related to what they have done for training. Even more conspicuous is that a not-natural sprinter like Brenna, now appears to have one, and the coaches have even commented on her jump. Too soon to call her a pack sprinter favourite, especially with the others not having done the same training, but a noticeable difference, and against peers.

I know, no revelation here, but sometimes the obvious bears repeating.

Brenna won the 'rider of the day' chocolate medal today, from Rocky Mountain chocolate factory.

From Brenna: "doing longer pulls than the others today, and still feeling good. Which is like the opposite of the first day in the camp". "Tomorrow we are headed off to Joshua Tree National Park. The girls are going to do 110-120km, the longest hardest day of the camp. I'll let you know how it goes."

From Jeff Ain, provincial coach: "Brenna was doing fantastic at the beginning of the camp and doing better every day. I really think she is starting to see her potential as a bike racer. I think she has the ingredients to be a special bike racer."
