Nice day for a ride! No rain and no ice. We started with twenty, maybe more and held together until the usual wildness down Cordova Bay Rd to Matticks. We had a few new people, Scott, Ken and Tri girl Wendy. Don't underestimate Wendy! She held in there with the boys on the sprint to Matticks.
From there we went as a group to Island View. Up and over then just a few of us turned right on the highway to do Landsend. Five of us, Kevin, Marcus, Paul, Mark and I wheeled into Sydney with Kevin and Marcus taking turns pulling us along. Mark and Paul went across at Wain Road and the rest of headed up Landsend with me sucking wind as Kevin and Paul pushed the pace. I was glad to see both of them slow down by the time we hit West Saanich Road!
At Wallace and West Saanich we saw Adam and his crew heading the other way smiling and waving as cycled long effortlessly. Marcus is in full Sardenga prep mode. To punish himself further, he did a couple repeats of the Observatory and Kevin and I cylced to Interurban where Kevin headed home and left me on my own to cycle the last 10 K home. This is likely to be the only time I win the sprint to Wilkinson!
It was good ride that worked our legs more than our cardio systems. My legs wer weak all day!

Looking forward to the next long ride. Maybe Saturday? Sunday is Christmas after all!

By the way, have you ever see a rear derailiure separate from its property location on the bike? We did on Sunday as we were climbing the little hill up Beach towards the waterfront. John D stood to climb the hill and just powered down, snaping something as we watched his derailiure try to make its way to the front chain rings. Not a pretty site! I hope you have it all fixed up before tomorrows ride John!
