Ottawa -> Gatineau Ride

Here are the stats for the basic Gatineau Park ride from my place in the Island Park zone of Ottawa:

It's really the only place around here to get any elevation, so there are dozens of riders in there all the time. Being 55 km out and back means it's less than 2 hours, so it can be fit in on a Tripleshot schedule (starting at 5:30 a.m.). It still gives 700 metres of gross vertical gainage. That is despite the lack of a really consistent grunt of a climb. The longest rise is about a mile at 6%, but it's a serious saw-tooth profile and the elevation piles up all the way. So it's a really nice little ride.

Ditto to that. If you want hills or pints of beer from the corner store, Gatineau was the place to go. Great riding through there. I remember the ride down from the lookout on Promenade Champlain was pretty sweet.

Sylvan--that was my ride before moving back west--I lived on Java st, which is really fitting given the foundation of TSC! Watch out for skiers on rollers going down those hills.
