What type of insurance coverage do I have as a club member?
$5 Million 3rd party Liability Insurance plus Sport Excess Medical Insurance. This includes “popular” benefits such as Ambulance transport, physiotherapy, fractures, prescription eye glasses incurred within 52 weeks of the date of accident.
What type of coverage do I have as a UCI Licence Holder or a Citizen Licenceholder?
The coverage is the same as described above with the exception that it extends to any Cycling BC sanctioned activity or race. UCI Licence holders have insurance outside of BC, but not medical insurance outside of Canada.
When am I covered?
As a club member, you are covered during registered club events occurring in Canada and as listed on your annual club’s affiliation form. It does not provide coverage outside of these scheduled activities– ie. it is not 24 hr coverage
What if I want to participate in another’s clubs’ activities?
You must then affiliate to that club as well. This can be done by:
1. Becoming a secondary member of that club‐ $10 plus the club dues, or
2. Upgrading to a Citizen Licence for $11 plus club dues.
Why is it better to upgrade to a Citizen Licence?
For the same price of a secondary membership, a citizen licence allows you to participate and be insured during any Cycling BC sanctioned race without purchasing a day licence.
How do I report a medical claim?
If an accident occurs while participating in a club activity, a club member
has 30 days to report an injury. To do this, click here: How to Report a Accident Claim.
Are the bicycles and riding equipment of a rider covered?
