In light of Kevin's post about Neild Road and numerous comments on periodization of your training, this is a very good time for this post!
Part of my training cycle is 3 intense rides and 1 easy ride (Friday's) a week and two or three runs an a couple swims. I can do this for 2 or 3 weeks then my body screams for a rest and recovery week to allow my body and mind to adapt and get stronger.
During my recovery weeks I can take part in and enjoy the Tuesday C ride. There are a number of C Riders that would like to come out on Tuesday and ride. Get in some more group mileage. We need one or two experienced TS riders to join in the group on Tuesdays and help out. I found the key to these rides is keeping an eye on the weakest rider in the group and making sure everyone stays together. Some of the stronger riders hammer up the hills and might take longer pulls but we all stay together! It makes for a very enjoyable ride and learning experience for everyone. It has been very cool to see folks getting more and more comfortable riding in a tight group as each week passes. Way to go Cs!!
One idea that Peter mentioned this morning is for the Cs to ride the University cirlce on Tuesdays. Just like the old days with a pace line with half lap pulls around and around! With the Cs on the circle, the As and Bs are free to fly around the square!
One message to the C riders: It is just as important to have a rest week every three or four weeks for you as it is for the hammer heads in the A and B groups. We are all working to the upper limits our current ability. The recovery will make you stronger!!!
So, next week we need a couple experienced riders to go with the Cs. I am available the following week as I taper for the Cowichan Tri (I am going to hammer the ride! The swim and the run, oh well!).
Thanks!
Barton.

I can ride C if no-one else wants to do it. I'm jumping the gun by a week on starting riding, but I can't stand it anymore! Don't know how those indoor trainer types do it.

From a keen C rider, I appreciate you volunteering. As for the indoor training, I'd be glad to discuss that with you Tuesday morning

Barton,
I'm just starting my Triathlon experience with the Esquimalt Tri-Comp this weekend. Good to see/hear you're doing the Cowichan Tri. Looking forward to hearing about it. I'm probably a stronger swimmer than a rider so appreciate you're helping me with those C rides on Friday's. As far as the running....
