I just watched Adam put on a crit racing lesson in the rain. He won 3 of 4 primes. Got in a two man break with 25 minutes to go, lapped the majority of the field and easily sprinted for the win.
He made it look easy.

Re: Wenatchee
Adam was racing Cat 3. He didn't have a good TT after getting no warmup after forgetting his rear wheel and pedals. Solid Crit and the road race was going well, he was in a 2 man break 5 minutes up the road until he got gapped, left in no mans land, and was caught by the chase with 4km to go.
My weekend didn't go so well. I'll start the excuses now, I was getting sick. 24th in the TT, 15th in the crit, 23rd in the road race. In I field of about 50.
TT was brutal, super windy, downhill out, uphill back. 10:30 out, 15:30 back. Ouch.
Crit was good, 1 km lap with a decent hill each lap. I was staying top 10 all race, playing it safe. Somebody hit my rear wheel and crashed 2nd to last corner and kinda goofed up my sprint.
RR was the most horrible weather I've ever raced in. 70 km, two laps with a long climb. Summited the climb the first lap with the lead group of 12, got gapped on the decent and just couldn't get back on. Blew up on the 2nd climb and drifted backwards for the rest of the race.
Fun weekend, but I never felt like I had my A game. Adam however was flying. Craig Richey was flying as well.

I think the rain scared everybody away, so no photos of Adam's crit.
With this big of a hill, I thought the crit would have been more selective, but the straight at the top of the hill was into a headwind, and nobody was driving the pace after the hill.
I really need to learn to ride with my head up, I'm going to kill myself.

Thanks Roland! Pretty funny comment about the 'head down' approach. At least you weren't in this guy's shoes...

Hurting yourself is bad, but the riders behind is worse. In skills sessions I suggest people watch the riders ahead, at about the level of the shoulder of the rider ahead. But you knew that.Roland wrote:
