Small turnout. The Aviawest kids raced on the weekend, so most of them took the day off. I think the rain scared everybody else away. However, the sun came out and the track was dry.

We started off with a 10 lap race, Brenna easily out sprinted the pack for the win. We followed that up with 15 laps, Farisha and Mike tried to get a break going, but Alex and Brenna quickly bridged up. Winding up for the sprint Brenna dropped her chain shifting into the big ring, handing the win to Alex. Why would you ever not be in the big ring on a flat track? Only Brenna can answer that.

Next, there were some short races. One lap: 650 meters. Full on from the gun, my type of race. Girls against Girls. Boys against Boys. A drag race down the back stretch had Brenna out sprinting VAC's Tarryn Cote. Next up the boys: John Wilcox had a slow start, but powered through the pack for the win.

Then we pretended Western Speedway was a velodrome and Steven Lund was a motorbike and had a keirin. The VAC girls sat out. Brenna, still in the big ring, chalked up another victory. Next was the boys keirin which was briefly interrupted by a raccoon on the track before John Wilcox powered to another victory.

Great racing by all. And the weather co-operated after what looked like might be a rain-out.

Hope to see some more argyle jerseys next week.

Another big thank you to our hardy volunteer coaches, Chris Paul, Wade Smith, Steve Lund, Vegan Dave, Jim Pauley, and another fellow whose name I did not get. It was chilly and windy and you guys were absolutely brilliant with the 'regulars' and newbies alike. Lotsa good racing happened tonight and I had a lot of fun.

Someone needs to fill my place and help Roland and Lister over the course of the next few races as I am booked into Monday evening work commitments for the course of May.
