Saturday sufferfest

No sunday racing.
Time to get that training block in for Race the Ridge. Could this be the week that we add more suffer to the sufferfest? Right on Willis Pt off Wallace, Millstream lake Rd, Reverse Munns, finish line at the top of Munns?
Or we could keep it going down the other side of munns, go back to west saanich rd on prospect lake rd, and have the usual finish at interurban? Would probably add 30 minutes?

I'm a definite maybe. I bonked pretty hard last night on the IRC ride and the sensations are not exquisite at this time. Hopefully better by tomorrow. I like the Wallace, Willis Point, Ross Durrance, Munn's, Prospect Lake, West Saanich, Interurban concept.

There's a good idea.
I am in although I like option #2 because it rides more like the Ridge course. I may join you from Ash instead of Starbux, tho.

In that the finish is on a flat section after going over a climb?

They have changed the start/finish line since I rode it. It now finishes on 256th avenue instead of 100th and I see the course runs clockwise this time round, so the climb is now a long, slow grind instead of a short grunt. The lead up to the finish may be uphill but not steeper than Interurban to Ross where we sprint in Victoria.

I am somewhat curious how they'll manage the yellow line rule on 268th to 98th as it is a 10%+ grade dumping onto a sharp, narrow right-hander. That was a problem last time when it did the same thing on another section when the race ran counter-clockwise. And it was dry then. Let's hope for summer weather...
Crazy thought but it might be worth a pre-ride on a weekend ahead of time. Any thoughts on this?
In any case, we are better to ride the second option you suggested as the climbing is more continuous as opposed to Millstream, which is a 15% slog.

Here's the route mapped out

103.4km from starbucks to the finish line, 1063m of ascent. You can look at the elevation profile in the "show" menu on the top left of the page.
Should be fun

Ok, for those lurkers on the site, who are not Race-the-Ridge wannabees like Ryan, Josh and Sylan, and would just like to do a less masochistic, but still serviceable sufferfest tomorrow, let's make that happen too, ok? Who's in? Old Dylan? Greg? Steve? Bartman? Matt?

In for a 1/2 ride.... If my crank arm that fell off this morning after the sprint (massive wattage) can be repaired

"Wannabee" sounds so Spice Girl.
Sylvan won't be at RTR. I hope you'll be joining us at Spinnakers for our gathering on his behalf?

I'm decidedly not man enough to hang with the "no pee break" sufferfest crowd. I'm going with Alan. Thinking Wain Road.

I'm in for 'old saturday' - Wain R, although we will have to watch the frost. We may want to stay off the Peninsula.
