Volunteers Needed: Tripleshot Introductory Race Series

TS Intro race series is coming up fast, and unfortunately we're behind on the organizing. There are a few tasks that need doing in the next few days. Hopefully somebody can help out.

- We need a photoshop / illustrator master to design a better poster than my 5 minute MSPaint hack job. Duane (http://duanebc.smugmug.com/Sports) allows us to use his photos as long as we give him a photo credit. Print a few (<20?) for Geoff to distribute to bike shops.

- Write a press release and send to PedalMag & Canadian Cyclist.

- Spread the word! Send the link (http://www.tripleshotcycling.com/2011/0 ... ce-series/) to as many people you know that would be interested.

- Sign up for day of volunteering: https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewfor ... ZFY4RHc6MQ

Roland, thanks for taking the initiative on this. I didn't know where to start.

Do we have an idea of how many race day volunteers and their specific duties? Since this appears to be a closed course, signage, sign-on, and spotters may be all we need. I have not physically been out to the course yet but would like to roll out there Saturday.

A rough guess:

2 - sign-on / registration
2 - timing / results
2 to 4 - coaching, in race advice, pushes, etc.
1 - bike check / emergency repairs

Some of those positions could be merged.

That poster you made is totally fine. Does the job this time around.

I should be able to volunteer. I'll confirm ASAP.

Except the date is incorrect. The first race is April, not March.

I'll get started on a press release. I will gather content from past forum postings about the series. A couple of questions:
  • 1. With whom should I vet it before faxing it out?
    2. Who shall I put at the bottom as a club contact for this event?
    3. Please let me know if there is a reason not to promote this via local (non-cycling) media (e.g. weekly/daily print, broadcast).
It's probably easier to respond by e-mail: [my first name].warburton [hat] gmail.com

I am not sure if there is another thread about tonight's race, but I have some questions:

Who will make the call with regard to the weather? Is it off if it is raining? Is anyone riding out? Do we have enough volunteers?

There are four kids in my neighborhood excited about tonight, so think happy weather thoughts everyone!

Eric

It's on unless it's pouring rain. I'll be there either way, and if people show up I'll run it.

We should have enough volunteers.

Do they have citizen licenses or better? If not, try and get that sorted ahead of time.

I will be unfortunately be unavailable Mondays from next week through June 6th because of work and other obligations. I will definitely be available for the ABC race on the 18th, however, as that race should will need more spotters/pickers for the finish and to keep track of lapped groups.
