VWV - Epic ride. Any takers?

No, it's not the latest model from the people's car of Deutsche land. I'm talking Victoria-Whistler-Victoria for the RBC Gran Fondo; taking an otherwise okay Fondo and adding a dash of EPIC.

Here's how it works:

1. Depart from Victoria on Friday morning (Sep 9), ride to Sidney, take the 11am boat over to Tsawwassen.
2. Ride from ferry to South Surrey, on River Road.
3. Hitch onto the Sky-train and cruise to Waterfront.
4. Check-in,
5. Head off to our respective accommodations after a nice meal at a cafe nearby.
6. Get up early and head to the race start, drop off our backpacks.
7. RBC Gran Fondo to Whistler.
8. Party like it's 2009.
9. Sunday morning, hungover, we convene at Whistler's White Spot for hearty breakfast.
10. Depart early, full tummies, riding a nice smooth paceline all the way back to Horseshoe Bay. Rest stops permitted, puke stops not permitted.
11. 12:30 Ferry to Nanaimo. Eat, rest, BS.
12. Nanaimo to Victoria...
13. Home to family by 7:00pm Sunday night, or sooner.

Distances:

Victoria to Sidney Ferry: 32km
Tsawwassen to Guildford Skytrain: 38km
RBC Gran Fondo: 120.2 km
Whistler to Horseshoe Bay: 103km
Departure Bay Ferry Nanaimo to Victoria: 120km

Total = 413km

Kevin and I are in serious talks about this being our plan-A. Anyone else game?

There's no way we'll have the weather we had last year. No way. :-)

Brad;

I may (read "will") almost certainly regret this later, but count me in. 413km spread over three days sounds doable. Whistler to Horseshoe Bay is all downhill, right? Right??? Humour me, just this once.

Sounds doing VNV on Aug 28th could serve as a useful warmup?
