Here's a nice route you/we might want to try out at some point this spring.

140 km route

I'd like to do it as an A+ team time trial on a Sufferfest Saturday with at least four of us, going for a time. Might not be an option for a few weeks with racing happening on Sundays - maybe we can swing another day, maybe get a small group of 3-ish together and kill it on a weekday.

I'll do this on a weekday morning with you. What days work for you?

Which direction does the TdeV go? I think counter to your map (as in peninsula first, saving the Highlands/Metchosin for the end). All signed up and ready to go--how many TS'ers are up for the ride?

alright Sylvan

This is the week, let's do this thing. I could do Wednesday or Thursday AM if we get an early start.

OK, Wednesday it is. Supposed to rain both days, oh well. I'm flexible for time/place. Maybe Douglas Starbucks for a pre-ride hit of caffeine? Anybody else in?

Weathers looking like the rain will be letting off by the morning. Hopefully we won't be getting too wet.

The wind today. It was very terrible. The sensations deteriorated. Josh was a great gentleman. He suggested we go to Disco Coffee in Oak Bay and bought espressos and fruit cookie things. Thanks, dude. We needed that. We were messed up.

yeah, I think we may have been to the point where we were a danger to ourselves in traffic.

Good ride with myself, Sylvan, Shawn, Dylan C and John G.

Dylan proved today he is legit, and a natural climber. Early on into the 1450m of climbing we did today he was attacking on every hill, while were keeping it more low key. I said to Sylvan "I wonder how he'll be going after 130k?".
He didn't fade, was strongest on every climb right up to the end. Nice riding, man. Dylan is going to be a force to be reckoned with on Newton Heights.

I, on the other hand, did fade, BIG time, after taking too many long pulls in the middle part of the ride.

Stats: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/76391734

We got through Sidney and after a long Josh pull I ended up at the front and got destroyed by the wind. My legs were messed and I said to Josh "I think something bad just happened to my legs". He took more really long pulls after that which was awesome but always risky. Fortunately I think I just hit a big gust of wind at the wrong time and recovered some sensations after that and was able to help some and not embarrass the club. It was a pretty epic ride considering its remedial distance of only 84 miles. Dylan is a very elite climber.

I had to bike into a hurricane getting down to Starbucks, so I knew today was going to be quite the experience. It seemed we had a headwind in every single direction, except for about a minute heading straight east on the way home. The only thing that topped that was feeling totally lost and soaked in the pit of Langhole, but Sylvan is a most capable guide.

I was starting to die after we left Sidney, and the rest of the ride for me was a death march. Josh was wearing the hood and carrying the battle axe. I kept thinking that if I turned my handlebars a couple of degrees and leaned slightly - ever so slightly - I could find peace under the wheels of an oncoming bus.

I packed it in after the hill on Ash Road and coasted mercifully downhill to my house. It was only 127 km for me - how did I ever do V2N2V last year? I hang my head in shame. I am not worthy.
