Spin Class 6:00 am Sat Feb 26

Post by Plawless »

Anyone interested? If we went to Esquimalt or Crystal could we bring music and do a little suffering as a group? If we can I could probably even bring a projector and laptop and we could run Sufferfest's Local Hero......

IF we are to do this I guess we need to know:

1. If we are allowed to do this (Didnt someone have a contact at ERC?) at ERC
2. If we could do it at Crystal instead;
3. Who would come?

If it worked out we could spin 6:00-8:00 then go for coffee and be home for 9

I would be interested and can give some insight to ERC. The area where the spin bikes are is part of the weight room, it is not in it's own space although they are all grouped together. I think there are 7-8 bikes in total. On a Saturday, it may not be that busy. I'll give them a call and see if we could bring a stereo in and run our own class. I think it would work. It costs about $5.50 a person. There is a Serious Coffee in E-town plaza...moving on up!

I'd be in to that.

Was planning on doing local hero at home anyway. Being Saturday, obviously you have to do a sufferfest of some kind. Doing it as a group sounds fun.

The crystal pool has the fitness room upstairs, and it looks like there is nothing going on on saturday morning until 9:15.

I think they have spin classes in there sometimes where they wheel the bikes in from the mezzanine. Not sure. Could somebody call them? I'm working at the coffee shop right now, and don't have a phone.

edit:
actually, I'll walk by there right now on my way home. I'll go ask at the desk if it's a possiblity

I'd be into a Saturday suffer-rama; would even risk travelling to Dylan's hood for the adventure. The last couple of days I've been on the roads on my commuting bike, it's not too bad on the main roads. If it rains like it's supposed to, we may have a snow-free Sunday.

I am in for either Crystal pool or ERC. Anyone know if they have a clip-in pedal option? Or is it a BYOP deal? Sunday may be warmer but that forecast is also changing.

Do we need a class leader?

Crystal is available. We can get the private fitness loft from 6:00 to 8:00 for $50 plus $10 insurance. No other drop in fees. There are 10 spin bikes available, but we are also allowed to bring in our own (clean) bikes and trainers.

I have some good little powered speakers I could bring in, and I have local hero on my laptop, if peter could bring a projector.

Should I book it?

AWESOME Josh - book it. I think splitting the $60 among us is cool. I will bring the projector if you bring Local Hero, Laptop & Speakers. I will also bring my own bike and trainer if that helps get more people out.

All the spin bikes have toe clips on one side, spd (mountain bike style) on the other.
I'm sure we could change over pedals ithout anyone caring if you brought in you own tools.

The Crystal sounds like a better option than ERC. They don't have a private room so it would be a little 'awkward'. A good option for the future, however, as they have 8 really good bikes.

room is officially booked. Be there around 6:00. We'll try to be spinning by 6:15. The video is 85 minutes long. Peter, do you have a projector screen as well?

8 of the 10 bikes are brand new keiser m3's with power meters. The other two are older. Schwinns, I think?

If any of you guys have your own bikes/trainers you could bring, let's encourage that to get as many people out as possible.

Also lets say $5 per person (bring cash), and any extra will go towards the coffee slush fund for afterwards

I am in as well. Does anyone mind if I set up my crazy rollers between two spin bikes (essentially you will become emergency support for me if (when) I crash!). These rollers are pretty cool... Otherwise I can bring a trainer. I can even bring 2 extra trainers if that helps others come out to this.
