So this was the old Friday route before everybody in Tripleshot got so fit you had to add Blenkinsop/Mt. Doug to not get to coffee too early? I give the route a perfect 10 for the off-season and hope it doesn't get kicked off the show by phone-in votes. Average was still 32.1 km/h for the whole ride, including cool-down spin to coffee, despite the friendly and inclusive early pace. Stretching things out before Hollywood but holding it steady through the sketchy swerves has gotta be the way to go. Two-by is not healthy through Hollywood. Neither is on-the-rivet. Today seemed just right. Josh dominated the six Beacon Hill laps with an imperious show of force. We should show Kim Jong-Ill a video of Josh destroying our pack. He would cower.

Great ride this morning. Nice to be back, even though Sunday wasn't really that long ago. Thinking of Josh's performance today and the old-school theme of this thread, when we used to ride the UVic Ring Road we usually pulled for half the circle (or the whole circle if Bob C. was the wing man). That was good. So, I think Sylvan is on to something - decreasing the out-bound distance so we can do more Beacon Hill laps would facilitate/force some longer hard pulls. If today is any indication, it might also keep tthe group together longer (though that might not be the best thing for fast laps). Anyway, just an idea.

Four days isn't much...until you can't ride. Hell, I have plank ass and ventilation airways from two days in a coaching course, and half of one day was on the bike! Face it, we're dependant. :)

I liked the more laps idea too, not just because of the calmer start, but because it suits different folks; you can do fewer or more. Or even take a lap out and jump back in if you get popped. I think we should encourage that, rather than drifting away to coffee. Ottawa has a training crit that is sanctioned and insured, yet taking laps out is accomodated.
If you are dropped you are allowed to jump back in at a designated stretch of the road.

Makes me even more motivated to argue against the circle road closure plans. Since we know the motivation to close it (limiting commuting traffic through the park) could be addressed other ways, please consider writing to mayor and council and suggest it stay open, while the shortcuts north are closed.
