Wednesday Nov. 24 ride

Hey Paul, I started this new Subject line to follow-up on your suggestion (in the Tuesday ride thread) to ride and meet at Pure Vanilla tomorrow despite the weather. The UVic Ring Road seems to have been kept in clear condition overnight (looked fine for riding this morning). Also, they 'relocated' a bunch of the rabbits. So, if it doesn't snow again and if Mt. Tolmie seems a little risky (elevation and darkness), then we could include laps of the ring road in a ride tomorrow. Of course -6C might be enough to keep us inside anyway.

Normal time, normal place? 6:00 a.m. from Pareto? More than willing to give it a try. If the ride from home seems OK when I head out, i.e. if I don't crash on ice on the way, I'll be there.

There are these real cool things called gyms that were invented back during the reign of Henry the VIII. Many people don't know he was crazy not only for love, but also for a solid 8 pack. Nowadays, you can run, ride, row and ski indoors without risking bleeding all over the place. One small section of black ice is all it takes to turn the baby blues red.

Henry VIII dug an 8-pack? Maybe on his courtesans. Killer calf definition, though.
But your point is sound, Dylan. Better to take the dogsled to the rec centre and enjoy your coffee afterwards without pavement burn, or worse.

I agree, little too risky. Anyone interested in meeting at crystal or attending the 6:30am spin class at pearkes?

"And the strong will survive" Tripleshot was at Crystal Tues a.m. Josh, Brenna and dad and Paul C.Josh and I even went for coffee!! I may ride Wed a.m. on my Cx bike..maybe from usual start direct to coffee... Lets see who shows... Spin classes and Crystal bikes are also a sensible option....but I LIKE being outside...
Come on baby blues, warm in bed!

Me, too, but not on a bike when it's minus-8. It's minus-8 at my place right now. 5:00 a.m. alarm being switched off...

The ring road wasn't as good when I left campus this evening as it was this morning. Probably best to let the sun do its thing before riding tomorrow.

It aint the -8. We proved that we are not smart enough to let that stop us repeatedly last year riding in as cold as -14. We'd have 10 or more people show up in balaclavas and ski gloves. My internally routed cables would stop working by about halfway through the box laps, and I would have to forgo shifting for the last half of the rides.
The difference is snow/ice. The roads were bone dry and safe during the cold spell last year. People were even out on their summer bikes.
