Saturday Sufferfest Nov 13th

Another intimidating looking group at coffee this morning. Gavin, Shawn, Sylvan, Greg, Dylan, myself, and Geoff W until matticks. With the time change, right from the beginning you could start to see the first light in the sky, like a light at the end of the tunnel.

The light at the end of the tunnel, unfortunately, was the pain train bearing down on us. The pace was fast right from the get go, warmup be damned. I think that may have been one of the fastest times we've ever had to sidney as the train had 6 locomotives and no brakes today. Out of control and always in danger of running off the rails.....One of you guys with a garmin needs to post some stats. I'm curious what that average speed was.

The pain train continued on past Sidney and over Wain, with some mysterious force continually hurling Shawn off the front. Eventually the cold and driving rain turned the last 20km into a silent funeral procession back into coffee.

Great ride, yet again.

The ride was again today very very terrible. The pain was intense and overwhelmed any other sensation. I didn't hit the lap button at all the right times, but we did average 37.1 from Mattick's to Sidney.

Thank the Good Lord I bailed at mattick's. I got to Starbucks at 6:00 only to find a very intimidating group of killers awaiting me, and I don't mean killer B's. Josh said "you mean the fairweather B's?". I hung on by my fingernails to get to mattick's, declared that I had overindulged in pain pie, then slunk home through the rain with my head hung in shame.

Here are my Garmin data: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/56578711

Great ride today. That "mysterious force" was the wind!

I bonked hard a couple km from my house and limped the rest of the way in my granny gear, feeling removed from my body and slightly nauseous. A big second breakfast and a nap took care of that :)

You are all monsters of sustained effort. All I could do was hang with the overwhelming feeling of being the weakest link. I resorted to a no-pull policy from Mattick's to somewhere near Wallace when sanity returned, which turned out to be key to staying on, particularly when we got to the hump by Vantreight's. Thanks all for the tow.
