Tripleshot Cycling

Margaret Jenkins Elementary School Bike Club, run by Tripleshotter Mike Peters, is co-hosting the Oct 20 Wed edition of the Underground cross training series. The regular wednesday adult session will be at 5:30, but the kids get the course first for an hour. I imagine there will be a familiarization lap (good for kids who are not sure they like the idea), a race on a modified course for the kindergarten to grade 3's, then a 2 or 3 lap race for gr.4-5, gr.6-8's. No license or waiver required for the kids events. It's covered as a school activity. Special thanks to Principal Rob Parker who has given permission and is attending to supervise the kids portion, and Mike Peters for asking for the course. Please find them and thank them.

About cross:
The cross course will be marked with caution tape, with lots of twists and turns, the sand pit, wood chips, probably a 'black hole' spiral and a dismount and low hurdle. The surface is mostly grass, and wide enough to pass almost everywhere. This is a great way to try racing; everyone feels like they're in it, as they duel with their buddy in front or behind. No one is really ever 'dropped'. No results or awards. Rain or shine.

Darn! Dance night for Holly (12). If she feels like skipping ballet, she'll be there. Also Logan (14) and I will be there to cheer on Una and then race with the big kids at 5:30.

Cool. I'll have to encourage my son, in grade 3, to give it a go. I'm bummed to be missing out on the 'recreate' cross race tomorrow at Beacon. I'll be in the air en route to the center of the universe.. TO.

Looking forward to Oct 20th... and will also be in Nanaimo Oct 11th. Hope to see a good 3-shot showing there.

I'll see if the gang likes the course. It might not be muddy enough for my 19 month old but the other two don't mind the sun;)

Since it's at the end off my street maybe it should be my first cross ride!

No, just show up. Look for TS'r Mike Peters, prez of the school club, who will be herding the cats.

Unfortunately I won't be there now, at least for the beginning, as I have some work in Vancouver for the day. But Mike and Drew et al were doing all the work anyway.

Say thanks to the school principal, Rob Parker. He's a big supporter of the elementary school club there, and provides the school property for a middle and high school league race in the spring too.
