subterranean cross
Hi everyone,
Show of hands who's doing the first 'cross traning race tomorrow evening? I am a newbie to this 'cross racing thing, but willing to dive in cold. Bike is in getting setup and (fingers crossed) will be ready by 5pm. I'm rolling from the Trek Store.
Cheers,
Brad
p.s. not too late to get some tips!

I'm 'tapering' for Whistler (ie. bagged and trying to recover enough to not embarass myself).
There are some video tips here:

I'll make an appearance, I'm in rough shape after a weekend in the Whistler Bike Park. Not sure if I can shoulder my bike. We'll find out tomorrow.

Re: subterranean cross
The thought of taking off my nice, new slate blue fenders and putting on the CX tires and Crank Bros. pedals I just got, may get in the way of doing this one.....and I've heard something about tapering for a big event ,such as a hilly 120km race in 3 days.. But I may ride by and see what all this CX fuss is about. And right across the street is a funky coffee shop, the Spiral Cafe for a triple shot after!! Have a blast pc
Re: subterranean cross
Can someone enlighten me regarding the location? I sent a note to the email posted earlier but I haven't got one letting me know where the ride is.

Re: subterranean cross
Try reminding Drew to add you to his list. There's another one with a waiver he asks that people have printed and signed before they come tonight. I'll send that to you by email.

Hi all,
So for the first ride of this fall's VCX the meeting spot will be at Banfield Park @ 5:30pm. The best spot seems like the parking lot next to the tennis courts just off Craigflower where it crosses with Raynor Ave. We'll go to the actual training circuit from there, so don't be late and don't forget to bring your license.
See you all Wednesday.
Below is the info from last week for those needing a refresher:
- VCX 2010 -
$20 cash money for the 8 event training series
September 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th
October 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
(NB - the meeting spot and time will be emailed out on the Monday before each week's ride. Please gather only at the meeting spot and at the time stated. Even if you are smart enough to figure out where that week's ride will take place, please do not show up at the training site while we are setting up. Its just a heat score if you do. We will have 2 neutral laps for everyone to familiarize with the training circuit each week.)
VCX 2010 = a series of supported training rides
In 2010 we will be running the series as "training rides" insured through Cycling BC. Read we don't keep track of results and the competitive elements of the rides are there only to improve the quality of training.
Wrap Up Party
The series fee covers the expenses related to putting on the series of training rides. In 2010 all the proceeds will be used to put on a proper season wrap up party in late October on the Halloween weekend. Details of the wrap up party to be released closer to that time. It'll be a good one!
VCX 2010 Insurance
Everyone is welcome at our events! However, given the number of people coming out every week, we now will have insurance for the supported training rides which means there will be licensing requirements for those wishing to take part. Riders with racing licenses will just need to pay the normal one time $20 series fee and sign a waiver form. Any non-license holders will have to join Pro City cycling club and pay $10 extra on top of the series fee to make certain the rider is insured.
You can do the rides without paying any extra:
- If you have purchased a full UCI race license for 2010 for EITHER Road OR Road with MTB
- If you have purchased a Cycling BC citizen license for 2010
For those that do not yet have any Cycling BC affiliation or license:
- You can purchase 1 of the license options mentioned above or…
- You can purchase a Club Associate Membership ($10) which will allow you to ride only in the organizing club’s events.
(If you are planning on participating in another clubs' events or in any races, you can purchase a citizen race license and not pay for anymore one-event membership at races!)
Not sure what type of Membership to purchase?

No. It would be great if someone can just post it here when the email comes in, as my repeated attempts to be added to the list have not worked.
