One man's account of his ride and the effort it took to finish. It is an excellent video.

I rode the last 100k with Pete - he was suffering.
If you start a ride you must finish!
Anyone planning to ride the LEL in 2013?

Brad I have the 2011 Paris-Breast-Paris (PBP) ride on my radar screen. I know of two other Victoria riders who are also planning to again go to Paris. For the 2007 PBP 41 BC riders lined up at the starting line in Paris and 31 completed the ride.
Due to the success of the PBP the organizers of the 2011 event have caped the participants to 5,000. Each country is to be allocated a fixed number of places, based on the previous year's participation/finishing rate of the country. How the allocation will be split across the Provinces is still to be determined? There is one more twist to the allocation story. In addition to completing 200k, 300k, 400k and 600k brevets in 2011 (prior to June 2011), riders who have completed a 1000k ride in 2010, will be able to register one week earlier than all other riders.
The last scheduled 1000k for 2010, starts in White Rock on October 9th, which I plan to ride.

Yes I was thinking of doing 1400km LEL and 1200km PBP..but only if in the same month [too much trouble packing up all my bike stuff to Europe ,twice] but as I was thinking of this I rode my bike to the Eric Martin Hospital, checked in and I am currently undergoing a psychiatric assessment. So far they think I may have C.O.D..................... Cycling Obsession Disorder. Symptoms: Babbling continuously about riding for 1200km in wet gear with no sleep, an obsession with tire wear, chain cleanliness, and bike weight, the ability to eat fig newtons while sleeping in gas stations and 24hr convenience stores..
I've heard lots of Rando. stories from my friends Ken Bonner and triple shot's Mark Ford and they do have me thinking of doing a 300 or 400 km in 2011. For those of us that did the VNV 260km in 34c. ..its possible. It does help if you are retired or semi -retired....because I am sure of one thing with longer Rando. events: You WILL Be TIRED!!!!
