Thursday am session at Windsor

I've had a request for some contact drills, as part of getting ready for the Windsor Park Criterium July 26. Meet at Windsor field house at 6:00.
I suggest a warm-up, on grass, with touching shoulders, protecting your handlebars, and touching wheels. These aren't things you do often or on purpose in group riding or racing, but help you to realize that someone coming close doesn't mean instant road rash. Makes for much more comfortable group riding. Many accidents come from overreactions to percieved risk, so this will help keep things calm when people get close.
After about 15 minutes of that, we'll do some two up (two abreast) riding on the circuit to get used to riding beside someone in a corner. Then three abreast.
We'll finish with some fast laps and leadouts.
We'll also take turns watching for cars on corner 1 and 3.

I'll be there.
Can help out as required. I'm going to take off early and go for a burn around the friday route before hand, so I might not be there quite at 6:00.
If anyone wants to bring some hay bails, we can work on crashing into them at 40km/h. I've recently become quite experienced at it.

I will plan on being there. My strategy for waking up is to not stay up all night infront of my computer waiting for the race results/photos
.

The solution to that is to win. Then there's no need to wait for the results.
I'd come Lister, if I wasn't already riding four mornings a week. This has become a cycling cult, not a riding group.
TimeTrial Mondays are next no doubt.

I'm in too, Lister... somewhat happy that the Easter Egg Cult is expanding its meetings to an extra day. And if we are voting for Time Trial Monday, I'd vote Yay! on that one too...

I had planned on coming, as I know I need work in this specific area. However, I think my body is going to be very unhappy with me tomorrow if I subject it to another night without enough sleep, especially after the thorough thrashing I put it through tonight at Newton Heights.
Needed training vs. needed recovery...what a conundrum.

I wish I could come. These Thursday sessions sound quite useful. Unfortunately I have 7am meetings on Thursdays until October.

Thanks all. I'm only doing Thursdays because it's one of two open days in the week; it could be Monday. Do more prefer that? Might help the folks with sore legs from Wed night, especially if we keep these skill-based vs heavy training.
edit. I meant to say Mondays might be ok if we keep it skill-based so it's not an additional hard day, and not right after Wednesday pm.

Good session this morning Lister.
Everyone should take advantage of a few of these to get their confidence and skills up for racing, or even just for group riding. It's pretty cool to have someone with that much pack experience in our group passing along his zen like knowledge.
