Nutella

I thought I'd start a new topic. The membership thread isn't where you'd expect to learn about low-priced Nutella. Sylvan mentioned that President's Choice Hazelnut spread was real Belgian Nutella and that it was on for $4.99. I asked Heidi what she's paying for our Nutella labeled hazelnut spread jars and she said..... $4.99 (at Costco). I didn't know it was made in Belguim. That has to be good, no?

The Costco stuff is probably the Canadian Nutella, with modified palm oil instead of the combo of canola oil and (unmodified?) palm in the Euro version. I'm going to Costco tomorrow, so I'll check it out. The Canadian stuff also contains "vanillin" - which is likely synthetic, while the Belgian version contains "natural bourbon vanilla extract" - and you get it in a glass jar instead of plastic.

The best Nutella, of course, would be the original Italian, but the Belgian version has usually been the same recipe.
