Ride Stats - Fri May 21

Whoooo Hooooo! What a ride. We did the 3 group thing and from everyone I spoke to it worked out for each group. The Hammerhead ride was a blistering 37.6km/h average for the whole ride with a paceline right out of the gate with 2 laps of Beacon Hill thrown in to take the edge off! Kudos to the Moose for taking the win! The A group rode hard but still stayed together in the classic TS fashion and the B ride did superB.

What did others think? I think with the group sizes we have been getting this was a great way to split the groups so everyone can ride hard but still have fun (although none fo the hammerheads seemd to want to chat - weird :( )

Here are my stats: http://connect.garmin.com/player/34025095
I got dropped after the golf course. Legs were unhappy, just couldn't get the heart rate up.

Advice: Don't do this the night before a hard ride: http://connect.garmin.com/player/33980905

I went out on the Russ Hays ride, which I highly recommend if you want a really hard ride. It's flat out from King George to Matticks Farm, they regroup, and then take it easy until Interurban and then it's on again. With Jamie Cameron, Matt Dilay and others driving the pace it was really fast. I was just hanging on most of the way. Can't wait to do it again.

This morning was definitely hurting me.
The litre of merridale cider last night didn't help one bit, surprisingly. -10% for the merridale, but +5% for the new oakley eyeshades, so I figure I was at 95%.

The merridale almost dropped me off the back of the group on the 2nd lap of beacon, but then the eyeshades sucked it up, and were almost able to come around and nip gavin at the line.

what I learned:
- if I only have a half litre of merridale, and wear the oakleys, I should still be at 100%
- no merridale + oakleys = 105% theoretically

That Russ Hays ride looks fun; where and when does it meet on Thursdays? How long does it take?

Russ Hays Bike Shop: Hillside & Government @ 6:00pm. It's about an hour and a half. I didn't start my GPS right away, the cruise through town is pretty slow.

Wow Josh, who knew retro 80's flair could have such restorative powers?

What you need to do now is get yourself a 7-Eleven jersey (http://www.cyclinghalloffame.com/riders ... ten_a6.jpg) and grow a big stash (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3977416192/tt0088707) and your transformation will be complete.

then, next thing you know, other people have eyshades too, along with a cool skullcap helmet, and you can't quite drop them.

Forget the kit, clothes, bottles and stickers, we need to commission custom pastel Oakley Factory Pilots. Mirrored. With gold librarian neckchains (for "flair"). Yeah!

Yeah...I still can't grow a beard so I'll need a mustache donor. That's normal at 23, right?

Yah... I think it's somewhat normal (I hope...) as I still have trouble at 32!

Shawn: don't be ashamed, you just have a genetic predisposition for speed. 8)

On a very brief review, the last time someone racing for TripleShot placed in the top four of a VCL "A" race, was when Scott Martin came 3rd at Neild Rd. on April 3, 2009.

I stand corrected. And I offer my resignation as Wannabe Club Statistician!

Great result, though, Shawn. And Adam rockin' third in the B's is awesome, too.

I'd veto mustaches (for men AND women)! I'll start a petition amongst us women if necessary....
