It turned out to be a great evening of racing, no accidents and a couple of fantastic finishes. The roads weren't dry, but there was no rain during the race. Not too cold either. Triple Shot was well represented in all categories. 15 laps for the A group and 11 for the B group, which included the women. It's late, so I'll get right to the main point - Young guys rule, old guys drool. Shawn was 4th in the A group and Adam was 3rd in the B's. Adam looked very strong as he sprinted to the finish. Two guys broke out of the B group, but Adam was the best of the rest. In fact, it looked to me as if his efforts to finish off the rest of the pack at the line almost took him up to that two-rider break. Well done. I witnessed this because the lead B's caught me on their final lap. I was there for Shawn's finish too - He was only a few meters back at the finish (and as I didn't place 3rd, I'll leave it to you to figure that one out). Peter, Gavin and I claimed the non-points paying positions - 11th, 12th and 13th I think. Dave and Al (and Adam, as mentioned above) placed among the top-ten B's and Rita continued her string of in-the-points finishes.
Peter had a mechanical on the climb in lap one that put him out of the pack. He soldiered on alone. Gavin and I were dropped by the main A group within the first 5 laps or so. Gavin just before me, which meant that all but Shawn (in the A's) rode lonely races unaware of one another's position. About two laps from the end I caught a glimpse of Gavin - it inspired me to push a little harder (sorry Gavin). In retrospect, that was good - kept me just ahead to Shawn - who will have to wait until next week to lap me
I almost forgot: Adam's performance was especially impressive as he won the high school race (on the same course) just before the start of the B race.
