Race Marshalls needed for Bastion

Post by Plawless »

I know that there has been a lot of posts by me calling for volunteers. So I thought I should flood the market and ask for a few for Bastion. If you arent racing its nice thing to help at. If you are and you have family comign to watch - coerce them. Its easy all you do is basically control the flow of pedestrians from one side of the street to another. You get a full briefing etc and will not be working alone.

so here is the Bastion pitch:

Anyone interested in a really cool day of watching / helping at the biggest & best bike race in Victoria? There us a desperate need for Marshalls. As a marshall you are assigned to a Captain and work in a small team at each of the corners to guide pedestrian traffic and generally ensure safety. It’s easy and you may even get to wear a reflective vest!!!

These races are on Sunday May 30th. You would be needed from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm down at Bastion Square. We really are in need of your help. You will be given coffee and bathroom breaks during the day. We always put extra people at the corners so that there is adequate coverage at all times.

If you are interested could you let me know as soon as possible and I will pass along your name and contact info to the organizers.

Thanks Jeremy - that's awesome. Anyone else? I even co-opted 3 people from my work....and they dont even like bikes!

And remember all volunteers will have free coffee, baked goods, fruit provided for courtesy of Tim Hortons and Peninsula Coop.

In addition, a volunteer appreciation party will be held one week after the cycling series which will consist of food, drinks, and lots of draw prizes.

Peter, how would racing and volunteering combine for Bastion Square? It'll be a long day and most of it won't involve being on the bike even if we do race ...
