One word: Insurance. It feels odd to say that I have been racing long enought to say the cost of the UCI racing license has remained about the same (for at least the past 10 -15 years).
I just don't get this; TriBC only charges $40 a year for race insurance. Is bike racing that much more dangerous than triathlon racing?

I'm not one to defend Cycling BC, but there are a few differences between the way to two organizations revenue models. Triathlons tend to be more expensive and Tribc takes a far larger sanctioning fee compared to road races which are cheaper and have smaller sanctioning fees.
The cheapest you can sanction a tri for is $200 compared to $25 (maxing out at $100 per series) per club road race. If road was $200 per race to sanction, it is unlikely we could have $10 road races and $2 time trials.
The UCI license isn't just insurance, it helps fund Cycling BC, something TriBC does more indirectly.

That is a good point, I never thought of it that way; makes sense.
OK, I'm finished with this off topic discussion (my fault), any more race reports?
