Sorry, Duane. Meant to say: "Moose almost takes out a courageous and gutsy photographer doing something somewhat unwise!"
We all appreciate the lengths you go to in order to deliver the action...
Actually, the next in your series is even more telling:

Gavin's so close you can almost smell him!

SO AWESOME
I just got home. Congrats Gavin, I'm glad you're dumb enough to race right after surgury.
Man, I wish I could have been there.

Hey hey Rolf, I may look like a moose - but I don't SMELL like one!!
After watching the video, and seeing the picture, that was pretty close though. It was the exact same line I took coming into the finish - started a little wider and cut it tight as I could to come out of the corner on the insider of everyone.
Certainly gives me a new appreciation for the risks you guys take Duane! Absolutely amazing pictures from the weekend as always though - your work is much appreciated by everyone!

I also wanted to thank you for your efforts Duane. Those were my two kids in the TSC jerseys and my camera battery dies before they made the finish - thanks for the great pics!
My daughter said she heard people yelling "Go triple shot!!!!" all the way around the course, made her day.
Lister, I'll have them ready for you in a few years.

She titled it "the guy who won the first race" - so I tagged Gavin's pic. Hopefully she'll approve the tag request.

Lookin good, Gavin. Now there's only two questions:
Referring to
THIS handy guide,
1) Would that victory salute fall under #1, #12, or #26?
2) What is the next salute you will begin practicing?? I think #15 is pretty stylish...

I'm going to say it was a #1, based on personal intention. Besides, it's pretty hard to show 'domination' in a 30 minute race, and that's not really my style anyway.
Though it was nearly a #2 Eric Zabel special edition!
To be honest, I actually remembered at the very last second, two-hand salutes are banned in sprint finished for BC races and you can be disqualified if you throw one (er, two). But it was my first ever win, and I couldn't contain the excitement - besides, the two-hander definitely would have cost me the race!
For my next salute, I'm going to practice the 'keep both hands on the bars until you know damn sure you've won by more than half a wheel' salute. I highly recommend it, and have a feeling I will have a lot of time to practice it before my next win!
