New website and new URL for forum!

Post by Roland »

I'm working on a new Tripleshot Website right now. Please post any errors or suggestions.

The forum has a new URL: http://www.tripleshotcycling.com/forum

Please update your bookmarks

I need a better header image, anybody want to make a 940 × 198 pixel header image?

Looks great Roland!

Could you add the weather link? I think it might be icy tomorrow and want to check the weather pre ride... Nice to know the exact temperature in your area....

Yup, you can also get to the weather at the top middle of the forum (next to FAQ) where it says the temperature.

Thanks Roland. I like the menus, and the layout.

Minor stuff:
  • typo "Tripleshup"
Fonts. We now have four title fonts and counting: old jersey, new jersey, forum header and web site header. Maybe pick one? And a little less freelancing with graphic design?
Really minor stuff:
  • How about a photo that describes our rides? VCL is pretty much the same for every club. Sprinting in the dark, coffee en mass, now that says Tripleshot!
Other stuff:
Can we add something about TS's involvement in the Margaret Jenkins School Bike Club, the Oak Bay Bike Bike Club, the school league, Central Middle School Bike club, etc? I can write soemthing, but wher would it go, and how long?

Also, how about a directory of cycling for newbies? I like to think we're a bit more beginner friendly than most clubs, so the main page could have some really basic stuff like a club list, how to start riding and racing, helpful links like CBC, bike shops, local physios, bike fitters, etc.

Making the visual style of the main site and the forum match is on my todo, but with low priority. Content comes first.

Such a photo would need to be taken. Maybe once the sun starts coming up earlier.

A list of community involvement would be good. A bulleted list of a few sentences each would be good.

Good idea. Anybody that has ideas for this list, please submit them here.

It would also be good to find the ride etiquette posts and fender/crap flap posts and have them on the main site.

Peter suggested having the current stock of jerseys etc on the site which I will do.

I'll also post some top race results for each year.

Anybody who wants to write some 'content' send it my way, I'll format it and post it.

If anybody has experience doing themes for WordPress and/or phpbb who wants to make a consistent visual style, that would be appreciated.

Its all great and very much appreciated. Thanks Roland. With all of the weather chat, could you add a link on the temp/conditions map-page to environment Canada ( http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pag ... ric_e.html ) ? That will provide forecast and potential frost info (hopefully less of an issue from here on in!).

I've started on the list of links, bike shops, other clubs, etc. Anything I've forgotten?

Do you want to write up 4 -5 paragraphs on each of how to get started with group cycling, group cycling etiquette and TS community involvement, and I'll post them?

Thanks.

I've just pointed a possible new recruit to the website and I gotta say Bravo! to Lister, Roland and whoever else contributed. It's tidy, appealing and strikes the right balance between welcoming new riders and ensuring they know what to expect.
