Peter;

Would love to join in, but just discovered that I busted a front-wheel spoke on the way home after yesterday's New Year's Day ride. So, unless someone who lives near the Fairfield Bucky's has a spare front wheel, I'm out...

its looking like -4/-3 to start and the dew point is currently right there as well so that screams ice to me. I am going to skip the early ride :oops: in favour of an afternoon jaunt along the waterfront around 2:30 or 3:00.

John D, I have two front wheels! You can borrow either one for as long as you like. Peter, I don't know what the dew point was this morning, but there was frost everywhere at 7 am. Cars and several roads were white. Surprisingly, traction was not a problem. Post your afternoon plans, I try to join you. I've started intervals on 'the box' - maybe we (and anyone else who's interested) could do that.

Suited up for the ride and walked out my door only to find the street shimmering with frost and decided to be safe. Did you guys make it out ok?

I suited up as well, putting on my booties as I read Pete's post. I thought he was a wussy for bailing, so I decided to go out anyway. It was a lovely ride to Mattick's Farm and I came back along the water like we did on New Years Day. First time I ever won the sprint!
Over breakfast I was able to tell my wife: "But Honey, you should have seen me in the sprint! I unleashed a large amount of power over the other [imaginary] fellows. I even scared myself..."

It wasn't slippery out there at all, despite the fact it looked frosty, the roads were great.

Damn, I could have had a second place in the sprint and there would be someone there to witness the power you can unleash!

12:45 Pure Vanilla. Does that work for anyone? I plan to ride around the box six times - easy lap, then as fast as I can from the right turn onto Henderson to the finish line - repeat two times. No drafting.

Sure, count me in. John T was kind enough to loan me a front wheel, so now I'm good to go. Coffee afterwards, I presume?

Oh, my goodness! That sounds entirely beastly! I'm in the middle of doing a cold week's worth of riding laundry. I'll try to get a kit ready in time and meet you out there. See you 'round the box if I don't get to PV in time.

I'll be there too! Be gentle, as I've been off the bike for a couple of weeks.

I'd also like to send a big shout-out to Peter for starting this thread, as I didn't realize today was a stat holiday! I dodged a bullet there.

Ha ha ha. That's a good one. Sure Shawn, we'll be gentle. We'll even shout out words of encouragement when you lap us.

See you in half an hour,

John

The ride was beautiful.

John T, John D, Norm, Shawn, me, and then Adam showed up after we'd done two reps of the box intervals, so we had to do two more. Adam had his new bike which looked fast and was fast, thanks to his extreme power. Pure Vanilla was full so we went to nearby Crumsby's Cupcake Cafe which was full of 5-year-olds drinking espresso but we found a table. The Americanos were good there and they knew what a real macchiato was.
