Dec 31 - last ride of the year

Post by leftcoaster »

14 hardy souls were out for the last TS ride of 2010 and it was in sub zero weather. We had a single all inclusive no drop ride at a casual moving average of 30.6 with a little extra care being taken around curves and corners due to the temperature

Happy New Year to all and see you in 2011

No kidding...by the time I got home, the liquid in my water bottle had frozen solid!

Just got back from buying some toe warmers for tomorrow's ride. :D

Good plan. I wear toe warmers AND neo booties and still freeze the feet. I'm heading out now - going to try sandwich baggies over the socks, in the shoes. Or maybe over the shoes, in the booties - yeah, that'll do it.

Baggies over the shoes, in the booties, worked awesome. Sadly, I bonked really hard in East Sooke and barely made it home, so my status for tomorrow is questionable, especially if I get Brahms and Liszt tonight. There's a hangover ride at 11 am at Bastion Square downtown for anybody who is unsuccessful at getting out earlier. I expect it will be reasonably well attended.

I always get cold toes, so go with Merino wool socks, toe booties with heat packs underneath (on top of shoe), full neoprene booties over top. Toasty.

I use the heat factory hand warmers from MEC. They're a little smaller and fit nicely under the toe warmers.
