Saturday AM Ride
Okay, who is in for a friendly B ride on Saturday AM? More of a Thomas the Tank Engine (I think I can, I think I can) ride than the full pain train?
Michael (I think I have a bike around here somewhere)

Assuming that my cold does not re-emerge between now and then (haven't cycled since last Sunday!), I'm in for a "friendly" B ride. Weather currently looks better than Sunday's forecast, too.
6:00am at Fairfield Starbucks?

Dang, I did my Sidney, Tatlow, West Saanich ride this morning. Heads up, a Saanich truck was laying down de-icer this afternoon on Gordon Head Road. There was no ice but it may be in anticipation of ice over night and in the morning. Just so you know...... Ride safe.

I think someone was missing from the ride this fine Saturday morning.....
We even waited until 6:15.....Okay, who is in for a friendly B ride on Saturday AM? More of a Thomas the Tank Engine (I think I can, I think I can) ride than the full pain train?

Sorry, I didn't show up either. My cold was such that my lungs just didn't feel up to a long tide. Managed a leisurely ride downtown for coffee, but that's about it.

Good group out this morning; I think we had eight in total. At Sidney we decided to head back the same way, as we encountered frost further up the peninsula. Due to some wonderful feat of nature the roads on the way back were icy, and I went down.
Did any of the killer B's go to coffee? Peter, Josh and I waited for a while but no one else showed up.

Re: Saturday AM Ride
We went to Pure Vanilla, it was great.
The way back from Sidney was sketchy at best, icy spots through Martindale till Matticks. Gordon Head was fine and by that time we even had some sun.
Next time it is a few above zero with lots of rain from the night before or high humidity I think we should either sleep in and go with the Oak Bay group at 9, or if it looks ok around town do two laps of the Friday ride but stay off the Peninsula.

I agree with that, we were saying the same thing this morning. Two laps of the firday route would be nice and safe. Peter was explaining to us about how the sun rising actually causes an inversion, which is why we had worse roads on the way back than on the way out.Greg Miller wrote: Next time it is a few above zero with lots of rain from the night before or high humidity I think we should either sleep in and go with the Oak Bay group at 9, or if it looks ok around town do two laps of the Friday ride but stay off the Peninsula.

I slept in and went with the Oak Bay group at 9. The IRC group coming the other way warned us that it was icy down in the fields. So on account of that, what we did was ride the dirt and gravel all the way from Mattick's to Michell's. You could tell who'd been riding 'cross all season - they slammed the gas as soon as we got off-road.sylvan wrote:The IRC group coming the other way warned us that it was icy down in the fields.
