The ride today was very terrible. It was so cold that all of our piss and vinegar was completely frozen by the time we got to Sidney. We stood around wondering how we were going to get home. We finally decided to ride, and chose the shortest way possible. Shawn and Greg were towers of power and provided enormous pulls. The rest of us hung on grimly as long as we could. I had fun. Thanks, everybody. Peter is probably just starting the Oak Bay ride now, knowing what it would have been like at 6 am and laughing at us. He'll pay for this.

At one point this morning, I was feeling a little warm on the cycling desk as I worked.
I cracked the door, and turned the fan from low to medium. I found that helped, but it was rough for a bit there.......

My pain pie was frozen solid this morning, and ice cream cake is the only thing that should be eaten that cold
I wore the same thing I did yesterday, as I was nice and toasty then. That was a terrible mistake. Next time I'm wearing a ski sweater, or riding when the sun is out! I fell apart on West Saanich Road, as my legs were actually just too cold to ride any faster than a slow limp.
Just to show the universe has a sense of humour, I had been looking forward to getting in my warm house after the ride ever since we left Sidney. But once I did the blood started flowing back into my arms and legs and I was in agony on the couch for what seemed like forever (about five minutes).
Still, there must be a huge training benefit to riding when all the blood is keeping your organs warm. I was way beyond an anaerobic state; I was training in my anhemo zone!
