A sincere thank-you (WARNING: sappy content alert!!)

Post by watwin »

Dear Tripleshotters
As much as I wanted to get out for at least one more ride with the group before heading off to Oxford, I’ve had to accept that’s not going to happen as my knees still resist full recovery. As I can’t say it in person, I’ve had to post a dreaded sappy thank-you message on the forum. Thanks for giving me such a great summer in sport when I had thought that I’d never enjoy anything other than rowing. Thanks for providing a great introduction to cycling and racing; you did such a good job I’ve already planned to buy a bike in the UK and join the university team. Thanks for passing on tips, encouragement and enthusiasm about the sport at a time when “enthusiasm” and “encouragement” are foreign concepts to most human beings. Thanks for the competition that kept the rides fast and hard(er then I could often handle). And thanks for the great memories of Tuesday sprints that finally worked, making it to the end of an A+ ride on Friday, Saturday rides that were longer then I thought I could sit on a 2 inch tapered seat for and awesome adrenalin rushes during races. I’m sure I’ll be back in Victoria multiple times during the 3 years or so of my degree, and I’m already looking forward to jumping into the paceline again when I do (surely my back and knees will be better by then???).

Good luck Alec.

By the way, I finally found that back book and stretching poster. Send me an address and I'll post photocopies to you.

Alec,

Really enjoyed having you with us this year, except for all those sprints you beat me in! Best of luck over at Oxford and hopefully you will be back to ride with us on a regular basis. Rumor has it they have a mediocre reputation over there.

Brilliant, Lister! But, Alec, it looks like you'll have to wait until 2020 to show off your fixed-gear crit prowess:

Nice riding with you, have fun at school and perhaps you can find a wacky UK fix for you back issues over there....

Good luck!
