Borrowing a small bike when I'm in town?

Hey TSCers... I'm hoping to be in town for about a week, roughly Sept. 14 - 21, and wondering if there might be a half-decent, SMALL bike for me to borrow (or, test drive, if you prefer) so I can join in on the TSC rides?

My little red trike is an XS, says it's a 52 cm but I think it rides even smaller. Anything in the 49-54 range I'm sure would be just fine.

Also, I have 105-ready cleats, but I would be willing to bring my own pedals.

And it needs to be fully carbon. And have a velvet seat. And preferably a 20 HP outboard motor.

Really missing getting out on group rides. So far I've been a lonely Soul-o Man but still trying to get in 2-3 rides a week. Did I mention it's ALL HILLS here!?! Literally uphill both ways.

I think this is a 52 but maybe a 54. All 105. Bring your pedals. I will be over doing the Whistler thing but you are welcome to swing by and have a look

Jasper's bike is up for grabs Dave - it's a small aluminum frame (was Kim Wards') full ultegra, good wheels... a sharezie with Lister who put it together with shared parts your more than welcome to it!

thanks, Brian and Galen (I think?).... Brian, whose bike is this? I'm 5'3", but with short legs probably ride at 5'1" or so... (insert in appropriate comment here).

Now...how do I get these pedals off?...rats...

Hey Dave- c'mon- you're bigger than 5'3"- you're welcome to my red Specialized. No idea frame size but it should work. Also Shimano 105 but I've got shoes you can borrow too if you don't want to switch pedals. I think about size 8-8 1/2.

Hi Dave: The devinci that Galen's son is riding has a very short stem, but I might be able dig up a longer one; can you send the distance from your saddle tip (front edge) to the middle of your bars, and/or to the middle of your shifters?

Dave it is a 52 cm seat tube. Fits my 5'6" daughter OK. The boys have outgrown it. I have a couple of stems you can also switch around. BYOP's. Or I can likely put some shimano (old dura-ace) pedals on for the week end.

Chris W, I actually AM just 5'3", although I present taller (whatever the hell that means). Thanks for the offer of the Specialized. Does it still have down-tube shifters? I'm worried I would crash, to be honest...

I can / will bring my pedals, and can even bring my seat post if that would be helpful (if a little greasy), and then check out Brian's and Galen's bikes to see what would work best.

Frankly I'm surprised Bob C hasn't jumped forward with an offer of an Orbea, but...

Anyway, this is great, and I'm sure I can fit something from these offers (hell, I once rode Janice Mickelberry's bike and managed to keep up...riding the top-tube the whole way, mind you).

I'm planning on coming to town on Tuesday, and staying through Sunday, so hopefully will get out on 2-3 rides, weather and hangovers depending).

can't seem to get my pedals off (yeah, rookie, but that's what bike shops are for).

I'm bringing my shoes with 105-ready cleats, and my seat... hopefully something will work among the variations.

You know the left pedal is left hand thread, right? Lefty-tighty, not lefty loose-ie. Also, grease the threads when you do get them out. Whose bike are you looking to use?

Hi, Lister. I was going to borrow one from Galen (I brought my seat and post) or Brian, but I'm not sure if either has 105-style pedals. I couldn't get them off (I knew about righty-loosey, but didn't have the right tools, and didn't want to wreck anything), so I didn't bring them.

Hopefully I'll be able to arrange something tonight so I can join the hills ride tomorrow. If not, it will be Friday and Sunday only...

Thanks for the newbie instructions... I think a TSC bike maintenance clinic would be really useful. It's taken me 6 years to learn to ride...maybe time I learned how to fix something?

I don't know what's one the Devinci at the moment, it's been at Galen's for a while; maybe ask him.

I don't have any current shimano road pedals, but lots of older look style and an older two bolt dura ace system from Josh.

It might also need a longer stem, it has a very short one for the kids right now.

Problem solved for the time being.... I'll be riding Chris Watt's red Specialized for extra weight / drop-shifter training, using his shoes and pedals. If I can't make it up a hill (never my forte) I may still want to borrow a lighter bike and pedals, but let's see how it goes.
