Hi all,
My name is Sebastien and a member of your club, Alec Watson mentioned you guys. I guess I could be described as a keen, eager rider who has (I think) has a decent bike. Unfortunately I have no clear idea what my fitness level is in terms of all you club members, and I have very limited knowledge of group riding/racing. For the past 2 years or so I have been doing solo or 2 person rides of 40 to 100 km in the cowichan valley. Recently I have felt a compelling desire to join a new exciting environment and after hearing from Alec, TripleShot sounds like a great club to be introduced to racing/group rides and the early morning rides make it possible to work around university schedules! Anyway, Right now I am living still in the cowichan valley and won't be back in victoria until mid august at least. I'm wondering what the next step is? should I just drop in to one of your rides when I am able and get a feel for the club? Well, looking forward to meeting most of you if I can. Any advice or tips for someone at my stage in terms of a next step is very appreciated.

Re: New rider, new member?
I felt compelled to respond to your post, because the above description is pretty much exactly where I was about 3 months ago, before I joined TS. In my experience everyone has been very welcoming and friendly and my only regret about joining Tripleshot is not having done it sooner. If you have been doing solo rides of 40-100 km, then I would guess that your fitness level would not be a problem, and most if not all TS members would be more than happy to help you with the basics of group riding. I wouldn't recommend racing right away (see some of the other board topics for more on that), but as for your "first step", I suggest coming out on a Friday or Sunday for your first ride. See you on the road!ysebastien wrote: I guess I could be described as a keen, eager rider who has (I think) has a decent bike. P.S. Êtes-vous français ?

Hey Sebastian,
great to hear you're interested! Definitely come out to one of our rides when you're back in Victoria and introduce yourself. Full information about where and when we meet is available on the "Tripleshot Club Info" forum.
If you're new to group riding, I'd recommend coming out to a Sunday morning ride to get a feel for things. I don't think you need to worry about your fitness level; our club encompasses a wide range of cycling abilities, from those mostly interested in recreational, social rides to those who like to compete. The Tuesday and Friday rides split into two or three different groups based on ability level, so I'm sure you'll be able to find a ride that works well for you. And coffee at the end of the ride is always the most important part!
I'm sure a club veteran could add more to this, so I'll leave it at that. Hope to see you soon
