Training with badly bruised ribs?

Post by jeremy »

Hello fellow 3shotters does anybody have any suggestions for me to help out.
I'm going to get X-rayed today to see if I broke any ribs, they are still very sore from sunday. Would I be doing myself more harm if I were go out riding?
I'm starting to go a little stir crazy just sitting at home

When I bruised my sternum skiing two years ago, the doctor told me the indoor trainer would be much better, and to avoid standing drills, and putting weight on my arms. I don't think the pain would have allowed me to ride outside anyway.

The trainer allows you to spin the legs without having to bear the road vibration in your upper body. I was inside for a full 4 weeks, but I was training every single morning. The rest for me was just how much air I could actually get in. I remember it took almost a month before I felt like I could breathe fully again.

Set it up in front of the TV, and just hop on and spin the legs long and steady. You don't even need your lung capacity to be fully working. Beats the hell out of not riding at all.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

I'm not using my trainer right now. Lucky me I am back on the road for short rides. You are welcome to borrow my wind-trainer. Let me know and I can drop it off. Get well soon.

That probably won't stop me, I've always been known as the tougher Erickson brother :P

And Barry, thanks for the offer, I already have a trainer of my own to use.

1 - Sufferfest videos are on 10% off. "beatmyass" code at checkout.
2 - If you do a few trainer workouts (and it sounds like you should) take the trainer to somewhere like cattle point to still enjoy a ride outdoors.
3 - Post up here when and where you're training and I'll try to join you. Misery loves company :)
4 - Get well first. There will be tons of riding left when you get back.
