Peter, I hope some of your enthusiasm gets sent my way.... If you have a moment, can you describe the course and any other details for those of us who may want to challenge the hill climb but have not ridden this hill? Also, is there a category for "old guys" or is just best time up the hill? Thanks
Barry

I'm probably gonna be there, but I have no idea of what this is.
Is it a race? One climb only or a loop like at Newton Heights?

Matteo is once up the hill. starts are one at a time and it takes between 9 and 11 mins judging by previous times

It's 2.5km. Up. Once. Riders leave 1 minute apart. Fastest to the top wins. If they do the same as last time, there's an A, B and Womens category (sorry Barry, no staggered starts or australian pursuit). A pre-race reconnoiter is definitely recommended.
The last big climb after the 3rd corner is the one to worry about, as indicated by Josh's comments from the previous outing.

Unfortunately, not going to be able to join in the fun, so good luck to all.I went a bit too hard too early and blew up on the top 20%.
This climb is nasty that way, not like doug or the observatory, where you can just go hard and hang on to the top. Those extra two or 3 minutes really punish you if you get the pace wrong.

Go to bed early tonight. Don't do hills in the morning. Try to catch the guy who left 1 min before you and try not to be caught by the guy/girl who leaves 1 min after you. Don't stand up until you can see the finish line. Don't go too hard at the start, it gets worse. Think of Mt Tolmie without the flat spot in the middle x 4. Open up your back brake so it doesn't rub when you put so much force through the frame that you bend it or your wheel, and pump up your tires. Don't bother with a water bottle, it'll be over before you have a chance to drink and the weight of the water will make a difference. ...... the bending frame bit was just to scare you
For the young guys: If you do see someone up the road, that is, if you are catching the rider in front, try not to let it affect your pace. Nice round circles will get the job done - upping the pace will kill your legs before you hit the line.
These races are great for measuring annual progress, or lack of progress.

I'm planning to be at the Switch bridge and I'm hoping for a real gentle ride out since my quads are rather sore today.
Re: Riding to Neild Rd. HC Wed 16 Jun
I'll be there at 5:00
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
