The Final Sprint

Post by dreeves »

Just for the record, if there are cars ANYWHERE in our path during the last kilometer or so coming down from the Terry Fox Memorial, we do not swarm them on both sides in an effort to make it to the crosswalk first and be the king/queen of the Tuesday morning ride. There is no one in our group on the verge of making any kind of living off of a "ph" phat pro cycling contract.

It really has nothing to do with you being killed and really making it your "Final Sprint", but more to do with how the incident may ruin my day, and the future of Tripleshot Cycling.

Nuff said?

Agreed. If the road isn't clear, shut it down. We do this twice a week, missing the odd sprint isn't that big of a deal. If you really need to race, come out to the VCL every Wednesday night.

Agreed.

Swarming cars is a great way to get our morning sprints shut down for good. There was already a woman on the phone on CBC just a few weeks ago complaining about the early morning "herd" on dallas road.
I think the cars in question were held up in the first place by our B pack at the finish line. Also, there was at least one bike commuter in there who I'm sure was thrilled to be a part of our swarm. Maybe another reason to split off into smaller groups and make sure we are not all finsihing at the same time?
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

I know I'm a guilty participant in what happened this morning and for that I apologize.

I know it's no excuse but that's the first time I can remember having traffic on Dallas Road during our sprint, and I wasn't aware of club policy.

Despite that misstep, it was great to ride with the group again this morning. One week away is too long...

I'm in full agreement too. The last stretch of dallas has many unknowns (watch for the door prise) - so if there's an in lane car in mix - don't confuse it - it's big, we're small. http://www.ride-strong.com/sad-day-on-t ... -cyclists/

Well guys, I have to say I am embarrassed by my behaviour and definitely don't want tp drag down the club's rep in any way. Hardly an auspicious way for me to return to the group rides. I am not sure exactly was was in my head that day it certainly was not common sense. Thanks for saying something, Dylan et al.
