And me. Looks like we are going to head to the Zoo Monday morning, planning to ride about 10:00 if anyone is interested...Lister Farrar wrote:Roland wrote:I plan to be there for the 7am ride, but I can't go too long because I need to be home in time for mountain biking @ 10:00.
PS: Who is mountain biking this weekend?
Me, hopefully with some combination of family and school clubs. Sunday at 1:00.

Scrub the mission. It's blowing so hard I can hardly open my door against the wind.

Re: Holiday weekend rides
It's never too windy for mountain biking. See you at the dump @ 10.

Re: Holiday weekend rides
So did a group go out at 7am this morning? I met Bob C along the Beach Drive and rode to the shop but never saw anyone. Killer wind to cycle against the ocean....

I left gordon head around 7 and headed around the waterfront hoping to meet up with the group but never found anyone.

Absof*#kinglutely hilarious, David!Holy crap... Let's see if I got this straight...
Damn, it's windy in my apartment this morning..
Re: Holiday weekend rides
Greg, Alan, Pete, John and I did the usual friday ride this morning. Pete got blown onto a lawn at one point. We went to fairfield starbucks when wwe were finished, and there was another group of 5 or 6 there, getting ready to leave. I think they rolled out about 7:45.
Have fun mountain biking. I'm not sure I'd want to be in a forest under the falling tree branches today. There was enough logs on the roads.

Maybe it's time to invest in some insulation?Ramsey wrote: Damn, it's windy in my apartment this morning..
I was lying in bed this morning wondering if anyone was stupid enough to go out to face the wind and for sure, Ian was right, there were some of you freaks out facing the wind! (Hard core )
Re: Holiday weekend rides
The mountain biking has been postponed. Nobody wanted to get crushed by a tree.

Re: Holiday weekend rides
the four of us left Fairfield Starbucks at 7:35, but with my second flat at Cadboro Bay, I packed it in. I shouldn't have pointed out last weekend that I had gone a year and a half since me last flat. Norm, Rob and David Hill kept on going.

I'm warm, dry, no flats, and didn't get blown on to a lawn. And oh, had a great work out on the trainer, staving off global warming by heating my house secondarily. So, who is smart?Plawless wrote:weak Brian (possibly smart but still weak!)

I rolled by starbucks around 7:40, so must have just missed you.
Still managed to get a decent ride in without getting blown down or crushed by a tree (although I almost got blown over a couple times and had to climb under a fallen tree on lochside trail....)
Got home looking forward to a nice post ride breakfast and the power promptly went out.

I'm in --weather dependent.
If it is worse than this morning (and It's hard to imagine a ride worse than what we endured today) I may opt to stay in bed. Frankly folks, I was thinking that for this morning's ride we'd get serious hard men of winter gloating points for riding in 50 kph winds, navigating around tree trunks, and pounding through roads strewn with more shite and debris than you can imagine, but we actually deserve stoopid points. Those who stayed in bed this morning get gloating points for showing they've got more brains than courage...
